Dr. Hoch's Conservatory offers an interesting program of teaching and training given by experienced teachers from Music Academies and Musikhochschule to talented musicians of all ages. |
Dr. Hoch's Conservatory offers instruction in the Music Education for
Youth and Adults (ANE) program, the Elementary Music Depart-
ment (Basisabteilung), and the Pre-College-Frankfurt (PCF) program,
which provides preparation for future studies at a Hochschule or Con-
servatory. There are also Ballet, Early Music and New Music departments.
The following qualifications are available: Diplom in Music and
Diplomas in Music Pedagogy in all instruments, voice, music theory,
composition, performance, and Elementary Music Pedagogy.
Music Studies Department (Studienabteilung)
(no tuition fees)
In the Music Studies Department a full time professional musical education is offered in all instruments and voice (IGP), Elementary Music Pedagogy (EMP), music theory, and composition. At present there are three qualifications available:
- "Diplom" in Music (together with the Musikhochschule, Frankfurt)
(to be added in the future: Bachelor of Music / Master of Music)
- Diploma as a State Qualified Music Pedagogue
- Diploma in Performance

Postgraduate and Complementary Studies
Here a postgraduate and "supplement to career" training with a state qualification or conservatory certificate are available. These are intended as an extension of the usual musical qualifications.

Pre-College-Frankfurt Program (PCF)
Preparation for Music Studies
The Pre-College-Frankfurt Program has as its goal the development and preparation of talented young musicians for career studies in music. After a successful entrance audition the candidate will be offered an intensive instrumental and vocal training as well as in music theory, ear training, and composition. Part time and full time studies are available. The program is also offered in co-operation with local high schools. Scholarships are also available.

Music Education for Youth and Adults (ANE)
This department places an emphasis on the development of talent in younger musicians. It is, however, offered as a musical training for all age groups. A complete course of training is given by professional musicians in all instruments and voice as well as in music theory and composition. There is also the possibility of studying with advanced students under the supervision of their teachers. A conservatory certificate will be provided on completion of the course.

Elementary Music Department (Basisabteilung)
The department Elementary Music Education acts a "talent scout" for musical ability in younger children. The following courses are offered: Music for Infants with Parent (MFF), Music Education for Young Children (MFE), and the Fundamentals of Music (MGA). Children with or without some knowledge of music are offered an early start to their musical development. There is also the possibility of studying with advanced students under the supervision of their teachers. A conservatory certificate will be provided on completion of the course.

In this department the performance practice of Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music is taught based on the study of historical sources, technique, and aesthetics of each period. Instruction is offered in baroque violin, baroque viola and baroque violoncello, viola da gamba, lute, theorbo, historical wind instruments, harpsichord and other historical keyboard instruments and voice. A diploma is offered as a state qualification or with a conservatory certificate.

New Music and Composition Department
Instruction is offered in form, analysis, composition and instrumentation. The main emphasis in the courses is on analysis as well as topics in music history.

The Ballet Department prepares young dancers at various levels of study up to the age of 18. The training is conceived as preparation for career studies in dance. The program includes Pre-Ballet Dance Classes (TFE) as well as a Classical Ballet Training. A conservatory certificate will be provided on successful completion of the course.
